1 Chronicles 9-10; Psalm 8; Proverbs 18:23-24; 1 Chronicles 10:13-14

Just as the Chronicler points out in his judgment of king Saul, where we go for wise instruction is deeply important. We often seek wisdom where it can’t be found – taking our cues from big personalities who are ego-driven, sin-stricken, desperately (if subtly) Christ-less. People can certainly give sage, godly counsel, but we must be on guard against false gospels and their accompanying corrupted ‘wisdom’. Just as we would not allow our mouths to drink water from a ditch filled with sewage, we should not let our hearts drink from any source that does not flow directly from the fountain of living water – Christ as revealed in the word of God. Pray today that God would use your time spent studying his word to strengthen your discernment of true, Christ-centered wisdom in a sea of dangerous half-truths.
