Day 1 – Psalm 32:1-3; Psalm 19
Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit.
The fundamental identity of all Christians is that we are a blessed people. Jesus Christ, who was literally God, gave up everything in order to become like us. He lived the life we should have lived and died the death we should have died. Because of this, our sins are forgiven. We should carry this enormous blessing at the forefront of our minds always. This is the solid rock on which we stand. In times of joy, this is our reason for joy; in times of sorrow, sin and doubt, this is our reason for hope.
Today, before you think about your situation. Whether your faith feels strong or you’re wrestling with sin, whether you’re full of joy or sorrow, before you think about any of those things, think about your status before God – a sinner, loved and saved by grace. Let that identity shape how you see everything else about your life.
