Day 3 – Psalm 32:6-7, Psalm 91

Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.

The Psalmist lays out the urgency of our condition today. The waters of God’s judgment will rise someday and we will either find a hiding place or be swept away. It is clear: the hiding place is with God. It is urgent: we must seek God while he may be found. Seeking God, praying to him while he may be found, has two essential components, which Paul tells of in Romans 10:9: If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Today, confess with your mouth that ‘Jesus is Lord’ – admit that you are not Lord and are not the best candidate to steer and shape your life. Today, believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead – believe that Christ’s death and resurrection was necessary because of your sin (which, by the way, is why we’re such poor candidates for Lordship). Trust that the Christ you confess and His sacrifice that you believe has secured your refuge and security with God.
